The Annual Assembly of the Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be held May 31-June 2, 2019, at the heritage Inn in Great Falls, Montana. Pastor Amanda Liggett, Synod Secretary January 15, 2019 The Assembly will elect a Bishop for a six-year term, a Vice President for a four- year term, and a Treasurer for a four-year term. In addition, the Assembly will elect Synod Council and other committee members, adopt a budget for 2020, and deal with any other resolutions and business as there is time. Because this year is a business session, resolutions and memorials are welcome. Please note the deadlines for submission below. Resolutions and memorials submitted after the deadline will be handled only as time permits. Congregations are encouraged to elect voting members at Annual Meetings or soon thereafter, to insure congregational representation at the Assembly. Watch the Synod website, www.montanasynod.org and the weekly e-news for updates on nominations and resolutions, as well as other pertinent information. The ELCA representative will be the Rev. Chris Boerger, ELCA Secretary. Deadlines are as follows: Nominations: April 12 Resolutions: April 12 Questions submitted to Bishop Candidates : May 1 Registration: May 10 (to get the early registration discount) Hotel Registration: May 10 All materials will be sent via email to rostered leaders and congregations and will also be posted on the Synod website. One mailed packet will be sent to each congregation in early April. |

The Heritage Inn, 1700 Fox Farm Road, Great Falls, MT 59404, (406-761-1900) has a block of rooms reserved for $96 per night. Please call to make your reservation. These rooms will be released after May 10th. Let them know you're there for the Montana Synod Assembly.

Offering
The offering taken on Sunday morning's worship will be for the Montana Synod Fund for Leaders in Mission. Envelopes will be provided in pre-registration packets, or you may mail a check to the Montana Synod office, 1221 24th St. S., Great Falls, MT 59405-5034.
Orientation for Voting Members
Orientation will help all voting members have a better understanding of the agenda, business, and rules of the assembly. Friday at 2:45 in the plenary area.

Packets were mailed to each congregation April 2nd, containing all the documents needed for voting members to register and participate at the assembly. Those documents are available here also. Registration and Payment information will be available online.

Travel Equalization Reimbursement
Voting members who drive will be reimbursed on the basis of miles driven and number of voting members who are passengers. Reimbursement will be allowed for all voting members from Montana Synod congregations who reside 100 miles or more from Great Falls. Travel equalization is paid beginning at .14 per round-trip mile if driving alone and increases with each voting member passenger. Cash reimbursements will be made at the Assembly registration desk. After registration closes on Friday at 3:00, both registration and equalization will be moved to the synod office (Montana/Alberta Rooms)
