Meet the Future Boldly

Picture
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.  Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.  When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart. (Jer 29:11-13)

We will take risks for the sake of the Gospel, remembering that Jesus said that whoever wants to save your life will lose it, and the only way to be a disciple is to pick up a cross and follow.  We will learn from our conversations with congregations and we will model faithful, visionary ministry that is more prophetic than safe.

The Annual Assembly of the Montana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will be held May 31-June 2, 2019, at the heritage Inn in Great Falls, Montana.

Pastor Amanda Liggett, Synod Secretary                                                               January 15, 2019

The Assembly will elect a Bishop for a six-year term, a Vice President for a four- year term, and a Treasurer for a four-year term.  In addition, the Assembly will elect Synod Council and other committee members, adopt a budget for 2020, and deal with any other resolutions and business as there is time.

Because this year is a business session, resolutions and memorials are welcome.  Please note the deadlines for submission below.  Resolutions and memorials submitted after the deadline will be handled only as time permits.

Congregations are encouraged to elect voting members at Annual Meetings or soon thereafter, to insure congregational representation at the Assembly.

Watch the Synod website, www.montanasynod.org and the weekly e-news for updates on nominations and resolutions, as well as other pertinent information.

The ELCA representative will be the Rev. Chris Boerger, ELCA Secretary.

Deadlines are as follows:
          Nominations:  April 12
          Resolutions:     April 12
Questions submitted to Bishop Candidates : May 1
Registration:    May 10 (to get the early registration discount)
          Hotel Registration:  May 10

All materials will be sent via email to rostered  leaders and congregations and will also be posted on the Synod website.  One mailed packet will be sent to each congregation in early April.

Accommodations

The Heritage Inn, 1700 Fox Farm Road, Great Falls, MT 59404, (406-761-1900) has a block of rooms reserved for $96 per night. Please call to make your reservation. These rooms will be released after May 10th. Let them know you're there for the Montana Synod Assembly.
