Speaker:  Rev. Dr. Karoline M. Lewis: Leadership In A Time Of Trauma
We all know the challenges of the past two years - for the church, for our congregations, for our ministry. Being together again provides an opportunity to talk about our leadership and lives in this time of collective trauma. Together we will think about preaching, interpreting Scripture, and representing the Gospel when normal is up in the air and the purpose of church calls for reformation.

Dr. Lewis is Professor and the Marbury E. Anderson Chair in Biblical Preaching at Luther Seminary.  She is also the Program Director of the Festival of Homiletics and the director of the Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Preaching program at Luther Seminary.

Speaker:  Rev. Dr. Karin Craven:  Relationships and Connections across our Synod
Dr. Craven will guide our whole conference community through a series of small group conversations designed for reflection, listening, and building relationships.  With nearly 25 new rostered leaders in the Montana Synod (about 1/3 of our active leaders) , and after not meeting since 2019, we will have some dedicated time just to connect with each other.  Karin is an ordained chaplain who has taught at Luther Seminary and Augsburg University.

Her doctorate is in the area of congregational and community care, and focused on the lived-through experience of community in the congregation as the pastoral leader. Karin’s work is inter-disciplinary and values insights from the domains of theology, neuroscience, trauma and postcolonial theories. Recently she moved with her family from Minnesota to Missoula. She is connected to Emmaus Campus Ministry as a member of the worship team of Confluence.
