2024 Montana Synod Assembly Information
|
Dough for Daily Bread has been the work of a team, with people from each location working to set up our bike rides/runs/walks. We were shocked to learn that Allen Hanson, our chair person for our ride from Red Lodge to Laurel on June 2, died suddenly on April 13. This was to be our first fundraising event, and he was instrumental in setting things up so that it was ready for us the day after the close of our Synod Assembly. The rest of the planning team have decided that this ride will be cancelled, with the hope of doing this route sometime during the summer of 2025. We will name it the Allen Hanson Memorial Ride. In the meantime, we will continue with the 3 other rides already planned:
June 23 – Ft. Peck – Wolf Point June 29 – Bozeman – Livingston July 13 – Hamilton – Missoula Please disregard the part of the video that refers to our bike ride immediately after the Synod Assembly. All else in the video is correct. Montana Synod Land Acknowledgement and Recognition of Indigenous PeoplesAs the Montana/N. Wyoming Synod, we gather and live on the Creator’s lands that have been blessed and cared for by the people and ancestors of the Appsalooke/Crow, the Northern Cheyenne, the Salish Kootenai, the Niitsitapi/Blackfeet, the Assiniboine and Nakoda, the Chippewa and Cree, the Sioux, the Aaniih, and the Little Shell tribes and nations. We recognize and honor the many generations across time immemorial of Indigenous peoples who have lived in holy relationship with these lands long before us and continue to live among and alongside us. In this acknowledgement, we understand this is only a first step and that as we share this world, we must learn and do more to help realize healing and justice for Indigenous peoples, nations and tribes.
