Dear Montana Synod Colleagues,
On February 22-23 the Montana Synod Council met in Great Falls. The official minutes of the meeting will be available in the near future, but here are some of the meeting highlights:
Vision:
The council reflected on chapter 6 of the Constitution, finding examples of how it is being lived out in our synod today.
The council approved a wide-ranging assessment of the synod, its people, perceptions and priorities.
The council had a frank discussion with Churchwide Representatives Sheram Hicks and Mark Grorud and synodical/churchwide issues.
Building for the Future:
The council voted to begin planning for the construction of a new synod office building on the current, expanded lot.
The council voted to establish a steering committee to explore the possibility of creating a prison congregation at Deer Lodge.
The council voted to rename the Daehlin Fund the Omland-Daehlin Fund, and to focus on the acquisition, management and distribution of all the current endowment funds.

Telling the Story:
The council learned about Mission Interpretation from Cindy Larsen
The council learned about cultural competency training from Pr. Greg Holler-Dinsmore.
Thanksgiving;
The council extends thanks to all the congregations who helped us not only achieve, but also exceed our budget for 2007. We were able to share some of that bounty with churchwide partners, to help enhance ministries all over the church.
